Introduction to Cookies

If you share a flat in the UK, you know the drill. Someone pays for the electricity. Someone else covers broadband. A third person picks up groceries, and a fourth conveniently forgets they owe money. The group chat fills up with awkward reminders. Someone makes a spreadsheet nobody updates.

What are cookies?

This is not a small problem. According to the most recent English Housing Survey, millions of adults in England live in shared households, with a significant proportion aged 25 to 34. [EV-P-001 — source, access date, approver required.]

  • [Outbound link: DLUHC English Housing Survey page.] Between rent, utilities, groceries, and subscriptions, a typical flat spends several hundred to over a thousand pounds a month on shared expenses.
  • Standard payment apps let you send money. They do not help you understand who owes what or whether the split was fair.

Kixy is a group payments platform for people who share expenses. It connects to your existing accounts via Open Banking and provides your group with a shared view of expenses, balances, and settlements.

[Open Banking note: Kixy connects to your bank through Open Banking with read-only access. You are redirected to your bank to approve the connection. Kixy never stores your login credentials. Settlements require your explicit approval each time.]

Create a group. Add flatmates. Log bills. Kixy suggests who owes what and can help everyone settle via Open Banking where their bank supports it. We call this Money with Memory: every logged transaction has a name, a group, a history.

Which Cookies Do We Use

Setup takes under five minutes. Connect your account through Open Banking. Create your flat group and invite flatmates with a link. Log expenses. Kixy suggests each person's share. Settlements can happen through Open Banking with your explicit approval each time.

Kixy is registered with the FCA as a Small Payment Institution (FRN 814005). [Outbound link: FCA register page for FRN 814005.]

UK flatmates sharing recurring expenses: rent, utilities, groceries, subscriptions. We are starting here because the problem is most acute: recurring, multi-person, multi-category expenses needing ongoing tracking. We are currently in early access.
